Short Bio

Dr. Balasubramani K. is a Fulbright Fellow and an Associate Professor in Geography at Central University of Tamil Nadu with over 18 years of experience in spatial analysis. His expertise encompasses a wide range of applications, including physical resources assessment, watershed/basin dynamics, climate variability, disaster risks, and public health. Throughout his career, he has held various academic and professional positions, including serving as a Visiting Faculty at North Carolina Central University (USA), Spatial Data Engineer in a software company, Guest Faculty at Madurai Kamaraj University, and Assistant Professor at Bharathidasan University. In addition, he has conducted post-doctoral research at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology in 2019. He has published over 50 research articles in prestigious remote sensing, earth science, and public health journals and currently serves as Assistant Editor of the Indian Geographical Journal. He has secured research grants over 10 million INR from various organizations, including DST, SERB, ICMR, ICSSR, and UGC. He has received numerous accolades for his work, including the Fulbright SIR Grant from the US Department of State, Young Geographer Award from the National Association of Geographers, India (NAGI) and the Young Scientist Fellowship from TNSCST (Govt. of Tamil Nadu). He has also traveled internationally to present his research, having received travel grants from organizations such as IGU, SERB, ICSSR, and DST and visited countries like the USA, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Throughout his career, Dr. Balasubramani has been an active member of several professional societies, including ISRS, IGS, and GSI, and has made significant contributions to their programs.
